Mondays January 23rd, 30th, February 6th & 13th 8:30pm to 9:30pm
The target audience for this course is ages 21+ who have curled less than 5 times in their life, and not recently.
**Anyone 20 years old and younger, will need to join a junior program that runs each October to March.
Learn to curl will cover:
• the layout of the sheet and basic curling terminology • rules and etiquette • equipment and safety • throwing the rock (set up, slide, release) • sweeping
We have equipment for you to borrow while in the rink but you will need to bring/ wear:
-Light jacket or sweater
-Clean indoor rubber soled shoes that allow your ankles to bend such as running shoes
-Gloves or mitts that are thinner and easy to hold a broom with
-Pants that you can easily move in
-Helmets are optional for adult curlers
-Hat/ headband optional
After the course, if you would like to form a team for the next season you have a good chance of meeting some beginner curlers in the Learn to Curl course or if you sign up as a full member we can see if there is a team looking for an extra member. Curling teams need a minimum of 4 members but you can have as many on a team as you are comfortable with. Some teams have as many as 8 members to cover for each other when they are sick or away from town etc.
